Valorus Group ("we", "us", "our") operates the Chess Crush mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Device Identifier
When you first open the App, we generate a random, anonymous device identifier (UUID). This identifier is stored locally on your device and is used to authenticate you as a guest user. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information.
1.2 Device Metadata
We collect basic device information to ensure compatibility and improve the App experience:
- Operating system and version (e.g., iOS 18, Android 15)
- Device architecture (e.g., arm64)
- Device model
- Screen dimensions
- Locale and language settings
- App version
1.3 Gameplay Data
When you play online matches, we collect game-related data including:
- Chess moves and board positions
- Game results and ratings
- Time control usage
- Matchmaking preferences
1.4 Analytics
We use PostHog to collect anonymized usage analytics such as screen views, feature interactions, and general usage patterns. This data helps us understand how the App is used and improve the experience. PostHog data is associated with your anonymous device identifier, not with any personal identity.
1.5 Marketing Identifiers
We may use Meta (Facebook) Pixel or similar marketing tools to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns and understand how users discover the App. These tools may use your anonymous device identifier and standard advertising identifiers provided by your device's operating system. You can opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
- Names, email addresses, or phone numbers
- Passwords or account credentials (login is anonymous)
- Location data
- Contacts, photos, or other personal media
- Financial or payment information
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information to:
- Authenticate your guest session and maintain game state
- Enable online multiplayer matchmaking and friend challenges
- Generate and deliver chess puzzles tuned to your level
- Deliver over-the-air (OTA) updates to the App
- Analyze usage patterns to improve the App
- Measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. We share data only with the following service providers who process it on our behalf:
- PostHog — usage analytics
- Meta Platforms — advertising measurement
During online multiplayer games, your anonymous device identifier and game moves are transmitted to our servers and to your opponent in real time. No personal information is shared between players.
5. Data Storage and Security
All network communication between the App and our servers uses TLS encryption (HTTPS and WSS). Your device identifier is stored locally on your device. Server-side data (game history, ratings) is stored on our secured infrastructure.
6. Data Retention
We retain gameplay data and anonymous device identifiers for as long as you use the App. If you uninstall the App, your local device identifier is deleted. All server-side logs associated with your device identifier will be automatically deleted within 30 days of your last activity.
7. Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Since all usage is anonymous and no personal information is collected, the App is designed to be privacy-safe for users of all ages.
8. Your Choices
- Opt out of personalized ads: Use your device's "Limit Ad Tracking" or equivalent setting.
- Delete your data: Uninstall the App to remove local data. All server-side logs will be automatically deleted within 30 days of your last activity.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the App or on this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
